Principal Consultant and Founder - Simon McOscar

 

Simon has over a decade of experience in the recruitment sector, having held both internal and external recruitment roles. His career started in 2002 with a premier nursing recruitment agency in Scotland, where quality and process driven recruitment were a vital part of the delivery model. Upon moving back to New Zealand in 2005, he transitioned into IT recruitment and worked for two of New Zealand’s most awarded and respected recruitment agencies.

 

In late 2010, a change in personal circumstances led to a return to the UK. Simon took up a Senior Consultant role with a global IT recruitment agency, which was a big deviation from working for predominantly owner operated ‘boutique’ companies. After gaining some valuable blue-chip Account Management and volume based recruitment experience, he felt the time was right to step out on his own.

 

“I’ve always taken the approach that people deal with those who they can relate to on a personal level and also people who deliver on what they promise.

 

After working in a highly KPI driven environment, it is my belief that a large number of the traditional sales styled targets that many recruitment agencies still use today, are counter-productive to good consulting. As a result, many Consultants are driven by management to bombard clients with CV’s, ignore unsuitable candidates and work on too many roles with far too many clients.

 

At Evolve IT Recruitment, our Consultant’s aims and goals are to deliver an exceptional level of service to a small number of key clients. We don't have KPI's to send out X number of CV’s or make X number of cold calls. Regular communication and sharing of information is a vital part of our recruitment process and ethos.

Principal Consultant - David Flynn

 

David joined Evolve IT in October 2014 as a Senior Consultant, following 2 successful roles with multinational recruitment consultancies. He has over 8 years of recruitment experience in the local Scottish market, with a background of delivering to both the Private and Public sectors. 

 

David moved to Edinburgh in 2006 and has worked within the IT sector throughout his career and has specialised in placing IT professionals in Investment Banking IT and Change, Public Sector Interim Management, and Procurement alongside core IT role during this time.

 

Softly spoken though forthright and conscientious, David is an unassuming individual with a wide wealth of market knowledge. He does what he says he will, communicates freely and effectively with all parties throughout the process, and is always happy to “tell it like it is” and provide an honest answer to any query.

 

He has delivered many successful assignments for all parties (as evidenced by over 50 LinkedIn recommendations/testimonials) and will continue to do so within Evolve-IT. In September 2016 he was promoted to Principal Consultant and is also now an equity shareholder in the business.

Recruitment Consultant - Graham Turnbull 

 

 

Graham joined Evolve IT in October 2016 as a Consultant following three and a half years of working within a multinational recruitment consultancy where he specialised in IT and Executive Search vacancies. During this time he placed candidates in positions ranging from graduate developers and infrastructure analysts to CTO’s, CISOs and Non-Executive Directors and had a particular focus on building lasting relationships with some of Scotland’s most promising SMEs and start-ups.

 

A graduate of the University of Edinburgh and having previously worked in Romania, Australia and Zambia, Graham has also worked within his family business in Southern Scotland and so understands the importance of securing talent for businesses of all sizes and cultures.

Above all he believes in an honest, upfront and transparent approach to business which fosters long term, lasting relationships where clients and candidates view him as a trusted advisor.
